A Dental CBCT Scan is a quick, painless procedure. The patient will be asked to stand or sit in the radiology room, and the dental assistant will position them so that the area of interest is centered in the beam. The patient will then be asked to remain still while the X-ray source and detector revolve around them for a 360-degree rotation. The entire procedure typically takes about 15-20 seconds for a complete volume, also called a full mouth X-ray, and less than 10 seconds for a regional scan.
Patients can return to their normal activities immediately after a Dental CBCT Scan. All imaging systems, including those used for Dental CBCT Scans, are approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA), ensuring their safety.
Dentists analyze the images obtained from the Dental CBCT Scan. If necessary, they may collaborate with a dental radiologist to interpret results of any significance. It is crucial to bring in the expertise and knowledge of a dental radiologist when observing the soft tissues, bone density, and any other part of the patient’s head and neck to ensure a proper diagnosis is conducted.
