What Your FNHA Dental Plan Covers?

If you are enrolled in the FNHA Health Benefits Program and your dental coverage is administered by Pacific Blue Cross, you have access to a wide range of services at Enhance Dental Centre—all delivered with care, professionalism, and cultural respect.

Who Is Eligible for FNHA Health Benefits?

The First Nations Health Benefits Program is available to individuals who:

  • Have Indian status under the Indian Act
  • Reside in British Columbia
  • Are not already covered by other federal health programs (e.g., through self-government agreements that include separate health benefits)

Coverage also extends to infants and children under 24 months if at least one parent is eligible. Children can be temporarily covered under a parent’s account while awaiting full enrollment.

How to Enroll in FNHA Dental Benefits

Whether you’re enrolling yourself or your child, the process is straightforward. Below are the steps for both adults and children to access FNHA Health Benefits through Pacific Blue Cross.

How to Enroll as an Adult

Call Health Benefits

Contact FNHA at 1-855-550-5454 with your Indian status number. They’ll confirm whether you’re already enrolled or guide you through the process.

Complete Required Forms

You may need to fill out:

  • Pacific Blue Cross Enrollment Application
  • BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) Application for Enrollment

Your coverage cannot begin until these forms are submitted and processed.

Update Your Information if Needed

If you’ve recently moved to BC, turned 19, changed marital status, or previously had employer-paid MSP coverage, you may need to update your enrollment.

How to Enroll a Child (Under 2 Years Old)

Register Your Child’s Birth

Complete birth registration with the Province of BC to receive a Personal Health Number (PHN).

Apply for Indian Status

Submit an application for your child’s Indian status number through Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) as early as possible.

Finalize Enrollment

Once your child’s status is confirmed, call 1-855-550-5454 to complete their enrollment under FNHA Health Benefits.

Temporary Coverage

If your child has a PHN but is waiting on Indian status confirmation, they can still be temporarily covered under your account until age 2.

At your first visit, please bring: Your Pacific Blue Cross Member ID Your Indian Status Card Any completed health forms (if applicable)

There’s no need to pay upfront or submit claims. We bill Pacific Blue Cross directly for all eligible services, so you can focus on your health, not the paperwork.

What if I’ve recently moved to BC—do I need to re-enroll?

Can I still use my FNHA benefits if I have private insurance?

Are cosmetic treatments like whitening or veneers covered?

No. Cosmetic services such as teeth whitening, dental implants, and ridge augmentation are not included under FNHA Health Benefits.
